My first flikr pictures with the iphone

Ok they need work but I have only had the phone for 1 day. Here is the link to my flickr geotagged plants. The 3 plants I took pictures of are: Day lilies beach plums hydrangeas. All of these are so common on Cape Ann. The hydrangeas and day lilies arepast their prime but still pretty. Sorry they are on their side. :-) http://flickr.com/gp/52596178@N07/SEM313

Finally a smart phone for me!

I picked up my brand new iphone last night. This is my first smart phone and I am looking forward to figuring it all out. I was a bit miffed to discover that my contacts could not be transfered over to my new phone. I had to manually add my contacts to the new phone. You'd think with all the technology available that this would have been easy! So I'm off to learn geotagging with it.

Geotagging

I just found this site and it is like geotagging for dummies site, perfectly suited for me. http://www.ictineducation.org/home-page/2010/4/14/web-20-for-rookies-geotagging.html I am excited about geotagging but what I have available to me in technology will make it more difficult for me until I get my new smart phone. Since I have a 5 year old phone I am totally comfortable getting a new iphone but it won't be in before the assignment is due. My digital camera is old too, so think I will borrow one of the iphones in the family. :)

Facebook shows friends personal cell phones online

Yesterday a friend alerted me a privacy concern on Facebook.  It seems that you can view people's cell phones on Facebook.  I think this is a pretty big concern, especially since it needed to be found out.  I will need to find the time to see how to change the privacy settings.  I haven't yet checked out to see if the reason this happens is when people post to Facebook using their cell phones or not.  I don't post often to Facebook but when I do I use my laptop.  I will provide more information when I check out Facebook later today.

How can I organize myself with delicious?

Three years ago I was introduced to delicious.  At the time I did not understand how to use this or quite frankly why to use it.  Now I think I get the reason why, but am still trying to figure out truly how to organize my resources within delicious.  I feel somewhat overwhelmed(again) at the thought of yet another tool designed to help me.  It certainly does seem like a great idea to organize my links in a better way but I am just getting good at organizing my bookmarks well!  I understand the technology behind the tags but I haven't figures out how to properly "tag" my resources appropriately.

I would love to hear suggestions.

Thinkfinity

I spent hours last night going through the many resources of Thinkfinity.  I am following Thinkfnity in Twitter and have created an account to store some useful lessons and resources there.
Check it out. It has so much for integrating technology into the classroom.

Google Chat is it like Skype?

I am looking around to find a downloadable "skype like" chat and phone service and understand Google has one.  I would love to hear from anyone that has used this.

TOEFL Ideas

Today my students practiced an online activity which involved listening to a dialogue and then talking about the key points made in the dialogue.  This was the first time I have done this type of activity with my students. They were confused about what they needed to talk about when recording so tomorrow I will review with them how to take notes on the key points of what they heard and help them to then summarize in their words what the discussion was about.

Tech Talk and tech drama

Well I have had yet another technical issue with my Dell laptop this week so what am I doing, I am blogging about it.  I think I am going to use my blogging as an opportunity to share some frustrating blue screen of death moments as well as other technical issues that come up in the course of trying to do my coursework online.

This week I went to do some work online and my computer crashed.  it was a fatal error message.    It took 3 days to get the problem resolved since initially it did not happen when I brought my laptop to the Help Desk to troubleshoot.  My laptop managed to somehow lose some key system files, but the good news is that it did not need to be reformatted.  Some files were reinstalled and I am now up and running.
